RADM Natvig’s education and training include a degree in electronics engineering, as well as the Norwegian Naval Staff College, the Norwegian Defence and Staff College Senior Course and the Norwegian Defence University College Senior Officers’ Course.
From 1980 until the mid-90s Elisabeth Natvig served in various military signals positions. From1996 to 2002 she served in the Information Technology Staff of Norway’s then Defence HQ, including 2 years as its commander. She also served for two periods in the Ministry of Defence at section chief level.
Her command positions include Chief of the Armed Forces C2IS Centre and Chief of the Defence Logistics Organisation Communication and Information Services Division.
She was the Chief of Staff of the Defence Logistics Organisation Staff before she was assigned to the Ministry of Defence as head of the Long Term Planning Division. In this position, as part of the integrated Ministry of Defence, her division prepared the CHOD’s 2015 Defence Review, as well as the Government’s Defence White Paper, approved by Parliament in November 2016.
